STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The ISEH integrates engineering and medicine to preserve health and eliminate diseases.
We are a cross-disciplinary alliance of scientists, clinicians, engineers, educators, patients, private and public leaders committed to solving some of the most complex and persistent challenges in human health. A defining feature of this initiative is to form nontraditional teams composed of members spanning disciplines, geography, and generations. We are united by the shared purpose of engineering solutions to eliminate targeted diseases. From pancreatic and ovarian cancer to strokes, infectious and genetic diseases, dementia and mental health. We pursue sustained, coordinated progress towards addressing designated grand challenges rather than incremental advances.
We seek to build collaborative human and technological systems where knowledge is shared, generations are linked, and the power of the global collective is actualized. We seek the greatest impact and enduring health solutions that can be achieved through technological ingenuity.
Transformative scientific and technological progress, from the moon landing to sequencing the human genome to the first image of a black hole, has always been driven by ambitions bold enough to transcend conventional limits. We continue that tradition by working across disciplines, generations, and geographies, recognizing that the next transformative breakthroughs in health will emerge from the creative convergence of talents among purpose-driven, transdisciplinary, inspired collaborators.
